‘Rotary-Kadamba’ theatre award conferred

Mysore/Mysuru: Asserting that dramas are a strong medium for sending out thought-provoking messages to the society, senior theatre artiste Srimathi Hariprasad said, plays must be compulsorily included as a subject in every curriculum.

She was speaking after receiving ‘Rotary-Kadamba’ theatre award at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Rotary Mysore North and Kadamba Rangavedike at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here on Friday.

Observing that lessons will go into the heart if at least one lesson is included in the form of a play in every text book, Srimathi Hariprasad said, this will also help the teachers in imparting education to students.

Writer Prof. Kalegowda Nagawara emphasised on the need for making efforts to create mass responsibility in building a new society. The theatre is an influential effort in this regard, he added.

Veteran theatre artiste Prof. Rameshwari Verma too spoke. Senior artistes Srimathi Hariprasad, Subbanarasimha, Krishna Janamana and Dinesh Chammalige were conferred with ‘Rotary-Kadamba’ theatre award on the occasion.

Senior theatre personalities Rajashekar Kadamba and Ashwath Kadamba, Rtn. Yashaswi Somashekar, Ranga Samaja Member Suresh Babu, Rotary Mysore North President M. Chandrashekar, Secretary A.P. Virupaksha, artiste B.R. Shivakumar and others were present.
