Plea to Chamundi Vihar Stadium authorities to allow joggers

November 6, 2020

With Chamundi Vihar Stadium shut for public following the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in March, scores of citizens residing in Layouts close to it have appealed the authorities to open the Stadium for joggers.

Pointing out that hundreds of citizens from neighbouring localities such as Nazarbad,Chamundi Vihar Layout, Gayathripuram, Ittigegud, Siddarthanagar, Jyothinagar, Udayagiri and Kyathamaranahalli used to regularly jog in the morning and evening hours in Chamundi Vihar Stadium for fresh air, they said that although all Parks and other open spaces in the city have re-opened for public post-lockdown relaxations, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) officials are yet to open the Stadium for joggers.

Underlining the importance of inhaling fresh air during Corona times, they appealed the Deputy Commissioner to issue directions to the authorities to allow them for jogging  inside the Stadium.

Meanwhile, former Corporator N. Dhruvaraj said that doctors have been advising the public to do physical exercises  and consume nutritious food to boost immunity during the COVID-19 crisis. When such is the case, there is no point in the officials closing the place for jogging. As such the authorities should open the Stadium for joggers and morning walkers, he said.
