Plea to Pratap Simha about Kodagu roads

February 14, 2021

Sir,

Our Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, who is known for his dynamism in improving the air and rail connectivity from Mysuru and getting additional funding to further improve the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and other infrastructure projects, seems silent on the roads of Kodagu.

Other than the State Highway, all other roads connecting major towns both in South and North Kodagu are unfit for travel. It appears the local law-makers have abdicated their responsibility and totally oblivious to the travails of the hapless travellers in Kodagu district.

Since Kodagu MLAs and MLCs are not doing anything about the Kodagu roads, hope, Pratap Simha will take up this issue with the CM and other Ministers concerned and get immediate sanction for asphalting all the major roads in Kodagu.

– K.C. Biddappa, Ammathi, 10.2.2021

Note: Inside the district, the responsibility is that of PWD, ZP, Taluk Panchayat, Municipality, Town Panchayat and such local bodies. The local MLAs and MLCs are also responsible to the people who elected them.

Mysuru-Mangaluru National Highway 275 is the responsibility of CPWD (National Highway Authority). MP fund for local development is there but Pratap Simha has been granting all the genuine requests made. If the correspondent has any specific need and request he may address it to the MP with details of the road.—Ed
