‘Postal Camp’ on Aadhaar Registration held

‘Bank Account can be opened in minutes if one has Aadhaar card and cell phone’

Mysore/Mysuru: India Post Payment Bank, Mysuru Branch, Senior Manager Sudhakar said that one can easily open an account with the Bank within minutes if he/ she has Aadhaar Card and a cell phone.

He was speaking after inaugurating a five-day ‘Postal Camp’ on Aadhaar Registration and Corrections at Maharani College of Commerce and Management for Women on Valmiki Road, Paduvarahalli (Vinayakanagar), here recently.

Pointing out that Net Banking system is gaining popularity, Sudhakar said that a Bank account can be opened with a deposit of just Rs.100.

Noting that the Union Government with an objective of enabling every citizen to have a Bank account started the Bank account campaign in 2014, he regretted that the objective is yet to be reached as 20 crore population of the country is yet to have Bank account. Now the Bank has been working towards bringing every citizen under the Banking system, he added.

Mysuru West Postal Zone Assistant Superintendent H.J. Somaiah said that almost every village has a Post Office now and as such, bringing all villagers under the Banking system will become easier now.

Apart from carrying out cash transactions, having a Bank account will help in RTGS, Life Insurance Policy premium payments, Utilities Bill payments, mobile phone recharge etc., he pointed out.

College Principal Dr. G.H. Mahadevaswamy presided. College faculty Dr. Channabasavegowda, Somanna, Krishnamurthy and K.C. Somanna, NSS Officer Dr. K.E. Govindegowda, NCC Officer Dr. C.M. Shivakumar and others were present during the programme.
