Practice yoga for quality life: ZP Chief Parimala Shyam

July 28, 2019

Mysuru: Today’s youth must include yoga in their daily regime for a better quality of life, said Zilla Panchayat President Parimala Shyam.

She was speaking after inaugurating the District Youth Convention organised jointly by Department of Youth Services and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mysuru, National Service Scheme (NSS), University of Mysore (UoM), Maharani’s Arts College for Women’s NSS Units-1,2,3, Ayush Department and Department of Information and Public Relations at the Maharani’s Arts College for Women premises, here on Friday.

UoM NSS Programme Coordinator Dr.B. Chandrashekar said that youth need a proper guidance to lead a good life. Through knowledge it is possible for them to face life’s challenges and hence it is not enough if they are just given education.

Education must not be meant only for getting jobs. Everyone must enjoy good health,                           participate in sports and games to represent the University. The youth representing the country in Olympics can be counted on one’s fingers. But even the tiniest of nations keep winning Olympic medals. As we lack physical strength we are not able to win more medals, he regretted.

The youth should participate in social, political and economic decision making processes as there is complete lack of their participation. This will help in shaping their future, he said.

Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Gowramma Somashekar,  ZP Member Mangala Soma- shekar, Maharani’s Arts College for Women Principal B.T. Vijay, Corporator Shivakumar, Government  Ayurveda and Medical College’s Dr. Bharateesh, Dr.Seethalakshmi, Dr.Adarsh, Credit-I Director Dr. M.P. Varsha and others were present.
