Mysuru/Mysore: For proper implementation of any Government scheme, a correct census is essential to know about the population distribution. Hence ‘Indian Census – 2021,’ the 13th census, has to be done in a methodical way for collecting correct information on population and list of houses.
For accuracy and to save time a Mobile App would be utilised for Census-2021 and a directive has been given to appoint officers in rural and urban areas to monitor the census process.
The Deputy Commissioner has been appointed as the Principal Census Officer and Additional DC as District Census Officer.
The rural areas of the district will have four Master Trainers, 35 Charge Officers, 640 Supervisors, 77 Constituency Trainers, 64 Monitors and 3,861 Enumerators. Tahsildars in rural areas will function as Charge Officers. The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) limits will have 19 Charge Officers, 295 Supervisors and 1,766 Enumerators. Commissioners of City Corporations, Municipal Corporations and Town Municipality will also be involved in the census process.
China stands first in the world with the highest population followed by India with a population of 121.08 crore as per 2011 census, with Uttar Pradesh on top with 19.9 crore. India has 17.5% of the world population with 74% literacy and gender ratio 943 (number of women for 1,000 men). As per the Karnataka census, the gender ratio was 965 in 2001 which dropped to 943 in 2011 with a total population at 6.1 crore. The district-wise break-up was Bengaluru – 96,21,551, Belagavi- 47,79,661, Mysuru-30,01,127, Kodagu-5,56,519, Bengaluru Rural-9,90,923 and Chamarajanagar-10,20,179.
The literacy in Karnataka in 2011 was 75.6%, Dakshina Kannada topping at 88.57% followed by Bengaluru with 87.67% and Udupi 86.64%. Chamarajanagar had 61.43% and Yadgir 51.83%.
In 2011, Mysuru District had a population of 30,01,127 with a gender ratio of 985 and literacy of 72.79%. The preliminary work for 2021 census is said to have begun and the joint effort of designated officers and staff with co-operation of the public would evolve a very comprehensive and authentic census, it is said.
