President Murmu presents National Award to AIISH

Mysuru: The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in Mysuru has been honoured with this year’s prestigious National Award for its outstanding contribution to the welfare of persons with disabilities.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to AIISH Director Dr. M. Pushpavathi during a ceremony held in New  Delhi on Dec. 3.

Recognising efforts for disability welfare: Each year, the Central Government recognises individuals and organisations that design and implement impactful programmes to uplift persons with disabilities across various sectors of society. These awards aim to encourage and acknowledge efforts that enhance inclusivity and empowerment for disabled individuals.

This year, AIISH Mysuru stood out for its exemplary service in the rehabilitation, education and treatment of persons with disabilities.

Team effort, says Director

After receiving the award, Dr. Pushpavathi, Director of AIISH, expressed her gratitude stating, “This recognition is an honour for the entire AIISH family. For years, the institute has been tirelessly working for the welfare of persons with disabilities. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of past Directors, staff and everyone who has contributed to our mission. This award belongs to all of us.”

She also highlighted the institute’s ongoing efforts, which include innovative rehabilitation programmes, specialised training courses and essential treatment services for persons with disabilities.

Treatment services: The institute provides treatment to individuals with disabilities related to speech and hearing.

Hearing tests: AIISH has conducted hearing tests for infants to facilitate early diagnosis and intervention.

These achievements underscore AIISH’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and improving access to essential services for persons with disabilities.
