Mysuru: University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar has said that Prof. K.M. Rajasekara Setty must be credited for establishing the Zoology Department at Manasagangothri and taking it to international level.
He was speaking after inaugurating the birth centenary celebration of Prof. K.M. Rajasekara Setty at the Zoology Department block in Manasagangothri here on Saturday.
Highlighting the efforts of Prof. Setty in the introduction of many sub-topics in the Zoology Department, he said that the Professor’s foresight saw the Zoology Department getting the tag of Centre for Advanced Studies in Zoology,with funding from the UGC.
Pointing out that Prof. Rajasekara Setty taught the students for nineteen years in the University, Prof. Hemantha Kumar said that those who studied under Prof. Setty have served in top positions in the State, country and as well as in foreign countries. Zoology Department alumni who studied between 1960 and 1979, Prof. Rajasekara Setty’s son M.R. Pradeep and others were present.
