Prof. S.K. Ananda Thirtha Memorial All India FIDE Rating Rapid Chess Tournament

The Mysore District Chess Association (MDCA) in association with the Hoysala Karnataka Sangha under the aegis of the UKCA and AICF will be conducting the Prof. S.K. Ananda Thirtha Memorial All India FIDE Rating Rapid Chess Tournament at Hoysala Karnataka Sangha here on July 1-2.

Addressing the mediapersons at the Pathrakarthara Bhavan yesterday Dr. C. Krishna, Chief Patron, MDCA said the tournament has a total cash fund of Rs. Two lakh and a total of 50 trophies would be given to the participants and winners in various categories.

Around 300 players Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Telangana, Andhra, Odisha, Maharashtra and West Bengal are expected to take part in the tournament

The tournament will be inaugurated by S.A. Mohan Krishna, son of late Prof. S.K. Ananda Thirtha on July 1 at 9.30 am.

IM S. Satyapragyan (ODI), IM Dinesh Kumar Sharma, IM Ravi Gopal Hegde (KAR), P. Saravanakrishnan (TN), N.Lokesh (TN), K. Senthilmaran (TN), A.C. Muthaiah (TN) and Ram Vishwanathan (TN) are the top players who are taking part in the tournament.

Website launched: On the occasion, Dr. C. Krishna launched the website www.mysoredca.com of Mysore District Chess Association which has the details of association’s activities, history of chess, Mysuru chess, Player details, Online registration of players, News and Photos, Tournament details, Video gallery, Photo gallery, Press reviews, Chess in schools programme and results of tournaments.

MDCA Hon. Secretary K.R. Shivarame Gowda, President N. Sudharshan, Treasurer H. Ramesh, Joint Secretary Smitha, UoM Senate Member M.S.S. Kumar were present.
