Mysore/Mysuru: The regulars of University of Mysore (UoM) swimming pool at Saraswathipuram in the city, staged a protest on Thursday alleging that, there has been a conspiracy to hand over the maintenance of the pool to a private party. Hence the pool is shut without any prior notice.

Swimmers Lakshmi Venkatesh, Nagesh, Janardhan, Somashekar, Suneel, Raghu, Mohan, Ramachandre Gowda, Shivashankar, Nagaraj and others, who staged a protest in front of the pool, alleged that, an influential person at the Physical Education Department of the University, have a nefarious interest of handing over the pool maintenance to his relative. Hence the situation is being created over the non-maintenance of the pool, citing non-availability of chlorine to treat the pool water.
