PU lecturers demand change in mid-term holidays

September 20, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Opposing the Pre-University Education Department’s decision to announce mid-term holidays from Oct.1 to 14, the Mysuru District Unit of Karnataka State PU College Lecturers  Association has urged the Government to reschedule the holiday period as  Sept.26 to Oct.10, coinciding with Dasara celebrations in the district.

Terming the declaration of holidays from Oct.1 to 14 as improper at a time when the entire Mysuru district would be celebrating Dasara, which starts from Sept. 26, the Association in a memorandum submitted to the DC Office here recently  maintained that declaration of mid-term holidays from Sept.26 to Oct.10 would be more apt in the backdrop of Dasara.

Citing difficulties in holding classes when Dasara celebrations and programmes are underway, the Association urged the Government to reschedule the holidays.

Association President M.M. Mahadeva, office-bearers Manjegowda, Srinivas, Shivakumar and others were present.
