Public sensitised on Hand Hygiene to prevent infections

Mysuru: Marking World Hand Hygiene Day, JSS Hospital, in association with Schulke India Private Limited, had organised a public awareness programme on hand hygiene this morning at the premises of the Hospital in city.

Patients, general public, teaching and non-teaching staff of the Hospital were sensitised on various issues of health and hygiene. The gathering was groomed on hand hygiene, a simple yet effective way to prevent infections. They were also briefed on simple hand wash techniques to primarily keep infections at bay.

Speaking on the occasion, JSS Hospital Director Dr. M. Dayanand stressed the importance of washing hands even in regular life. He added that patients and their care-takers should be aware of hand hygiene.

Schulke India Private Limited Vice-President (Marketing) Rohit Bhatia added that prevention was always better than cure with hand hygiene taking the prime spot in that direction.

JSS Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. M. Guruswamy, Hospital Infection Control Committee Chairman Dr. M.D. Ravi, Chief of Nursing Services Janet Mathias, JSS Medical College Principal Dr. H. Basavanagowda, HoD of Microbiology Dr. Sumana, Chief Administrative Officer Basavaraj Kuppasad, Financial Officer Bhagawan and others were present.

Department of Nursing was adjudged the best in hand hygiene followed by the house-keeping department. Individual prizes were also given on the occasion.
