Mysore/Mysuru: Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (ACCE – India), Mysore Centre, has organised a two-day Recent Advances in Civil Engineering-23 (RACE-23) National Seminar on ‘Innovative Infra in Civil Engineering’ at Mysore Builders’ Charitable Trust (MBCT) Auditorium on Akkamahadevi Road, Vishveshwaranagar here on Feb. 3 and 4.
The event will be inaugurated at 10 am on Feb. 3. ACCE (India) National President Vijayakumar Kisan Sanap will be the chief guest while ACCE (India), Mysore Centre Chairman H.S. Deepak and Hon. Secretary S. Shashiraj, RACE-23 Chairman Dr. G.P. Chandradhara and Hon. Secretary Dr. P. Nanjundaswamy will be present.
Eminent speakers will deliver lectures on challenges, innovations and breakthroughs in the field of Civil Engineering. RACE-23 seminar will benefit practising civil engineers, consultants, faculty and civil engineering students.
Speakers and topics
1. ‘Civil Infrastructure: Safety First and Innovation Next’ by Dr. C.V.R. Murthy, Professor of Civil Engineering, IIT-Madras and author of the book – ‘Earthquake Tips.’ He has served at the IITs in Delhi, Kanpur and Hyderabad. An alumnus of California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Murthy was the editor-in-chief of the interactive web-based ‘World Housing Encyclopaedia’.
2. ‘Application of Geophysical Techniques in Civil Engineering Projects’ by Dr. Sanjay Rana, Managing Director, Parsan Overseas Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi and an alumnus of IIT – Roorkee. He has carried out geophysical investigations for more than 2000 projects in India and many countries.
3. ‘Precast Concrete Technology for Ultra-Rapid Construction of Mass Housing’ by Er. Amit Barde, a Post-Graduate in Civil Engineering from the Purdue University. Presently, he heads the precast initiative at L & T Construction, Mumbai. He has been actively involved in promoting precast concrete technology for residential and commercial building sectors.
4. ‘An Overview of Advances in Civil Engineering Design and Construction’ by Er. A.J. Samuel, Director, STUP Consultants, Bengaluru. He is an expert in planning, designing and construction consultancy for buildings, bridges, flyovers, irrigation projects and highways. He was the engineer-in-charge for the construction of the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad.
5. Case studies on ‘Remedial Engineering’ by Er. Kaizad, Technical Director of Ushta Infinity Construction, Vadodara. He has spearheaded a number of Remedial Engineering Projects in India and abroad.
6. ‘Full Span Construction Methodology – High Speed Rail Project’ by S. Senthil Kumar of DGM (Construction Methods and Planning Cell), L & T and R. Narasimhan, Engineering Manager of L & T.
7. ‘Engineering Perfection: Noida Twin Towers Demolition’ by Er. Mohan Ramanathan, President of Advanced Construction Techniques, Chennai. He is a PG in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and Founder-Chairman of the Indian Demolition Association.
8. ‘Challenges in Design and Construction of Pune Underground Metro Stations’ by Dr. T.V. Pradeep Kumar, Principal Consultant of Tandon Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, and an alumnus of IIT, Roorkee with Ph.D in Structural Dynamics.
