‘RamaGovinda Rangamandira’ handed over to Kannada Samsthe

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘RamaGovinda Rangamandira,’ built by Smt. D. Ramabai Charitable Foundation and Sri M. Gopinath Shenoy Charitable Trust, Mysuru, in the premises of Nrupathunga Kannada School at Ramakrishnanagar E and F Block in city, was formally handed over to Kannada Vikasa Shaikshanika Samajika Samskrutika Samsthe on Sunday.

At an event held at the newly build Rangamandira, Trustee of Smt. D. Ramabai Charitable Foundation Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoi gave a earthen lamp to the President of Kannada Vikasa Shaikshanika Samajika Samskrutika Samsthe P. Mallesh as a mark of handing over the Rangamandira. Later, Kannada Samsthe felicitated industrialist Dr. Jagannath Shenoi and Kusuma Shenoi couple.

Speaking on the occasion, M. Jagannath Shenoi said, “RamaGovinda National Award has been instituted by our Trust to recognise and honour notable personalities who are involved in the betterment of the society. And now we have built this Rangamandira. I wish there would be Rangamandiras in all four corners of the city.”

P. Mallesh, who later addressed the gathering, lauded the efforts of theatre personality Jayaram Patil for taking up the responsibility of constructing the Rangamandira with much involvement and commitment.

Theatre Director B.V. Rajaram stated that the newly constructed RamaGovinda Rangamandira reminds him of Rangashankara which has been built in memory of well-known theatre-television-film personality late Shankar Nag in Bengaluru.

Later, STEM Dance Kampni of Bengaluru presented traditional and contemporary dance.

President of B.V. Karanth Pratishtana Jayaram Patil, well-known anchor and actress Aparna, Secretary of Kannada Samshte S.R. Sudarshan, Dharmadarshi Shailaja, Joint Secretary Sheela, Treasurer N. Nagachandra and others were present.
