The 7th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced Sadanand of Makanapura village in Nanjangud taluk, who was accused of raping a minor girl at the village on   Jan.26, 2012, for ten years rigorous imprisonment.

The village heads had counselled Sadanand then and had persuaded the latter to marry the victim but to no avail. The parents of the victim had later lodged a complaint with  Nanjangud Police.

The sentence also carries a fine of Rs. 1.10 lakh.

Public Prosecutor Mahantappa represented the State.
