Rapist sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment

February 6, 2018

Mysuru: The Mysuru Special POCSO Court Judge has sentenced a person to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10,000 for raping a minor.

The rapist, who has been sentenced, has been identified as 28-year-old Doddahaida, a resident of Kunteri hamlet in H.D. Kote taluk and was staying at a house of a distant relative in the hamlet.

Doddahaida, on Jan. 1, 2017, had taken the three-year-old girl, who was in the house to the lakeside on the pretext of playing with her, where he allegedly raped the little girl there.

The girl’s mother, who had gone to the fields, was returning on the same route and Doddahaida, who saw the girl’s mother coming, put the girl on his lap and was pretending to play with her. The girl’s mother, who saw this, suspected something fishy and informed the matter to the family members and later lodged a complaint with  H.D. Kote Police.

The Police, who registered the complaint, took the girl to the General Hospital, in H.D. Kote and later to Cheluvamba Hospital in Mysuru, where the girl was subjected to medical examination and had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.

Special POCSO Court Judge V.M. Pawale, who went through the medical reports and the witnesses produced by the Police, found Doddahaida guilty of committing the crime and sentenced him to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10,000.

POCSO Special Public Prosecutor B.C. Shivarudraswamy argued on behalf of the Government.
