Mysuru: Cracking their whip on illegal activities such as gambling (Andhar Bahar) in Recreational Clubs in city, the City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, in separate operations, raided two Clubs on July 22 and have arrested 32 persons who were indulged in gambling besides seizing Rs. 1,15,680 cash from them.
In the first case, the Cops raided Hoysala Sports Club on RTP Main Road in Hebbal Industrial Area and arrested 32 persons including the owner of the Club besides seizing Rs. 1,15,680 cash from them.
The Police found that the Club had violated the rules and were allowing non-members into the Club who were indulging in gambling (Andhar Bahar).
In the second raid on the same day, the Cops found that the Management of Merchant Cue Sports Recreation Association on Shivaji Road in N.R. Mohalla was allowing non-members into the Club and have booked cases under COPTA Act against those found smoking inside the Club.
DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe supervised CCB ACP C. Gopal, Inspector G.C. Raju, ASIs L. Subashchandra and R. Raju, staff Joseph Naronha, Lakshmikanth, Niranjan, Kariyappagowda and Rajesh in the raids, arrest and seizing operation.
It may be recalled that on July 17, the Police conducted raids on New Modern Recreation Club in Visveswaraya Building in K.R. Circle for allowing gambling (Andhar bahar) and had arrested 37 persons besides seizing Rs. 1,51,630 cash and 37 mobile phones from them. The Cops also raided Brindavan Sports Club in Metagalli Industrial Area on the same day and had registered cases against two persons for consuming liquor in the Club and the Management for allowing people to consume liquor.
City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao has warned the Club owners to follow the guidelines and not to indulge in illegal activities inside the Club. He said that the raids would continue and legal action would be initiated against the persons and Club Managements if they are found indulging in illegal activities.
