Redefining Saree Blouses! Topping the saree off with a whole lot of glamour and sexiness à la your favourite Bollywood celebrity!

July 17, 2019

Neutral, noodle-strap, classic black, sleeveless, ruffled, off-shoulder and whatnots- saree blouses have always been fun and a favourite topic of speculation. With the leading ladies of Bollywood choosing six-yarders for their outings- onscreen and off-screen – the world of sarees have become exciting all over again! Goodbye, the dreary world of button-down blouses and the routine design because we are too damn glued to the new wave of saree blouses that is bright, colourful, embellished, layered, ruffled and glittery! They are maximalist and minimalist- or even somewhere lingering on the fine line between the two. They are too carefree and individualistic to be confined to a trend. The weaves might be the titular star of the ensemble but the current scene-stealer is the saree blouse.

Have a look!

If plunging necklines get you going but you wonder if you could pull it with a traditional saree– just have a glance at Deepika’s ensemble and clear any misgiving you might have about it. Paired with a belt and a beautiful net saree, the blouse is separate design brilliance on its own.

Wearing a saree with a blouse is too passé. Besides, when you wear a tussar silk or an organza-based saree, it tends to puff up and crease out a bit. You can’t show up at an Ambani wedding wearing a kanchi pattu saree all puffed and wrinkled, can you? So, what do you do? If you were a style icon like Karisma, you would wear it with a golden jacket! Bling ka bling, functionality ki functionality, win-win, right? Besides, if your excuse for not wearing a saree is an absence of pockets, (we all know how important they are), well, not anymore!

A blouse can up your saree game. It can either break your look or make it. A well-fitted blouse is all you need to make the saree work for you or so you believed. Manisha Koirala not only presents you with an antithesis but proves it also. Here, you can see her adorning an off-white top for her ivory white saree.  With a mogra bun and a humble pearl necklace to complete her look, she is a vision in white!

And frankly, there are no rules to follow. You don’t owe anybody answers and you certainly, don’t need to prove yourself. Be yourself and wear your saree any damn way you like.  What if you don’t have time to change or can’t find a blouse, wear it with the crop top you are already wearing and look like a million bucks! Trust us, you won’t be alone in this. Jacqueline Fernandez has nailed the trend already!

Be it a saree, lehenga or a salwar suit-Kareena Kapoor is a style icon who slays it all. From a shimmering and embellished maximalist lehenga to a monochrome saree with a blazer, she is the queen of all looks, right from classic to casual. If skin show in a saree puts you off, you want to play cool and formal at the work or you have plans after work, here’s what you can do too! Just wear a blazer with your saree and when the time comes, turn into a playful and sexier version of yourself! What do we like about the style is that it is totally doable. You don’t have to rush to shop for a blazer! Just wear it over a saree and let the world be your runway.

We have you crushing over these saree blouses as well, it seems!  Bookmark them and next time when you are wearing a saree, don’t forget to experiment and explore!
