October 30, 2017

Mysuru: A one-day State-level workshop on “Exploring Research Avenues” (Data Analysis, Research Funding, Writing and Publishing Research Paper) was organised by the M.Com, PG Centre of Vidyavardhaka First Grade College, Sheshadri Iyer Road, Mysuru, on Oct. 28  in the  College auditorium.

D Bharati, Registrar, University of Mysore, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the workshop.

In her inaugural address, Bharati insisted that Research for the sake of Ph.D is not a research, but it should advance the society and contribute to the welfare of the public.

She called upon the young researchers not to concentrate only on fulfilling the procedure of enrolment, registration, submission of the thesis and finding the funding agencies but instead they must explore new potential areas of study and utilise it to the maximum.

She also advised the students of Commerce that their research should be towards the finding of “what are the monopolies and the loopholes which are an  illusion behind the Government’s order of GST.”

Dr. G. Kotreshwar, Professor, DoS in Commerce, University of Mysore (UoM), in his keynote address, contextualised the research endeavours in pursuit of knowledge. He opined that knowledge itself is a powerful resource to build an education society.

In his Presidential address,  Gundappa Gowda, Hon. President V.V. Sangha, encouraged the participants to enrich knowledge. P. Vishwanath, Hon. Secretary, V.V. Sangha, S.N. Lakshminarayan, Hon. Treasurer, Dr. S. Marigowda, Principal, Vidyavardhaka First Grade College and Dr. S. Ashwini, HoD and Convener of the programme, were present.
