Resident Doctors Association opposes COVID duty for PG Students

May 5, 2021

Mysuru: Resident Doctors have opposed the Union Government’s move to engage final year Post-Graduate Medical students for COVID duties.

In a press release, Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KARD) said that the Union Government’s decision is a Black Day for Resident Doctors of India. Noting that final year Medical students do not have complete knowledge of COVID treatment, the Assocaition said that it is not correct on the part of the Government to order COVID duty until the pandemic comes under control.

Pointing out that PG students have to complete a one-year Senior Resident course, it said that it is difficult to carry out COVID duty as the present internship being paid is not enough.
