Residents protest supply of contaminated water

September 18, 2018

Periyapatna: Accusing the Town Municipal Council (TMC) officials of apathy in supplying pure drinking water, residents of Mahadeshwara Ashraya Layout in the town staged a demonstration in front of the TMC here yesterday.

Claiming that contaminated water is being supplied to the layout in which Dalit labourers stayed, the protestors said the use of contaminated water was causing skin infections among the residents.

Alleging that drainage water and other wastes were entering the unscientifically laid water pipelines at some points that resulted in water contamination, they accused the TMC authorities of inaction even though they had submitted numerous representations in this regard.

Urging the authorities to immediately fix the issue, the protestors warned of laying siege to the TMC.

Safai Karmachari Mahasangha President H.K. Mahesh, office- bearers Nagaraj, P.T. Srinivas, M. Harish, Jeevan and others took part in the protest.
