Retired DGP R.P. Sharma passes away

Bengaluru: Retired Director General of Police (DGP) R.P. Sharma (60) passed away yesterday evening at a private hospital here after a brief illness. He had retired from service in Dec. 2020.

He was admitted to hospital where he breathed his last due to multi-organ failure, sources close to the family said.

He is survived by his wife and two children. An IPS Officer of the 1987 batch, Sharma retired as DGP, Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation and was living with his family at Doddagubbi near Hennur Circle.

On Sept. 2, 2020, Sharma was rushed to a hospital near Hebbal after he had injured himself in an accidental firing while cleaning his revolver.

Last rites will be performed at Hebbal crematorium today.
