Revannasiddaiah quits Congress

April 22, 2018

Mysuru:  Senior Veerashaiva-Lingayat leader and former IPS officer L. Revannasiddaiah has quit the Congress.

Announcing this at a press meet at a private hotel here this morning, Revannasiddaiah said that he has tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress via an e-mail sent to KPCC President Dr. G. Parameshwara yesterday.

Pointing out that his target was Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and not the Congress party, the Congress like other parties such as BJP and JD(S) too had good leaders, the former IPS officer maintained that he had no plans to join any other party right now.

Declaring that he would support JD(S) candidate G.T. Devegowda in Chamundeshwari, from where CM Siddharamaiah is contesting and the BJP candidate in Varuna, from where the CM’s son Dr. Yathindra is contesting as the Congress candidate, he said that his main objective is to ensure the defeat of the CM and his son.

Launching a tirade against the CM, Revannasiddaiah said that he was treated very shabbily by the CM after his (CM) victory from Varuna Assembly   segment in 2013, which catapulted him (CM) to the Chief Minister’s post.

Maintaining that he had expressed his displeasure when Siddharamaiah and his son Dr. Yathindra on separate days  recently, the Veerashaiva-Lingayat leader alleged that the CM totally neglected him once he got re-elected from Varuna in 2013.

Accusing the CM of dividing the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community, he said that the CM was also out to divide another community by using the recommendations of Justice Sadashiva Committee report.

Alleging that Siddharamaiah had fielded his close associates in four out of the eleven Assembly segments in the district, thus setting a bad precedent, he said that the CM was pumping hundreds of crores of  rupees for Varuna alone for the sake of his son, while neglecting all other Constituencies of the district.

Reiterating that his sole agenda right now was to defeat the CM and his son and thus teach Siddharamaiah a lesson, Revannasiddaiah said he would explain the injustice rendered to him by the CM before the people through appropriate platforms.
