Madikeri; Revenue Minister R.V. Deshpande today visited the Kodagu-Kerala Inter-State Highway at Makutta in Kodagu which was heavily damaged following heavy rains recently and took stock of the situation.
The Minister instructed the officials to repair the damaged roads, cut down weak and old trees on roadsides besides assuring that there was no shortage for funds in the Department.
Stating that PWD Minister H.D. Revanna would be inspecting the spot tomorrow, Deshpande asked the officials to give a memorandum to Revanna and a copy of the same to him.
Minister Deshpande was accompanied by MLC Veena Achaiah, Deputy Commissioner P.I. Sreevidya, Virajpet Tahsildar R. Govindaraju and officials of PWD, Revenue and Forest Department.
It may be recalled that following heavy rains, the road link between Kerala and Karnataka via Virajpet has been blocked as Makutta River is overflowing, causing widespread destruction.
