Revision and upgradation of Karnataka State Disaster Management Plan-2020

Mysuru: A two-day State-level consultative workshop for revision and upgradation of Karnataka State Disaster Management Plan-2020 (SDMP – 2020) was held on Jan.2 and 3 at Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysuru. 

About 24 senior officers, Disaster Management experts and resource persons participated.

The Department of Revenue (Disaster Management) has instructed the Centre for Disaster Management, ATI, to prepare the State Disaster Management Plan as per the National Disaster Management Plan – 2019 (NDMP-2019). Course Director Dr. Ashok Sanganal, Senior faculty, Centre for Disaster Management, ATI, in an introductory session explained the content and importance of 14 chapters of NDMP-2019. The responsibility matrix for the Departments and various agencies for preparedness, mitigation, DRR measures and Sendai Framework, SDG and climate change, Capacity development, Social inclusion, and funding, budgeting, cooperation with other agencies were discussed for appropriate amendment to the SDMP – 2020.  

The Heads of the Departments and senior officers have prepared the Draft of the responsibility matrix and presented in the plenary session. The final copy of the SDMP-2020 will be submitted to the Government by the end of January based on the feedback and suggestions received by Departments concerned. 

Faculties of Centre for Disaster Management Dr. Paramesh, Chandra Naik,  Alec Lobo, Communication and IT Officer Dr. M. Dileep Kumar, R. Suresh and Shreyas were involved in the workshop.
