Rhythm Fest: Layavadyotsava at Ganabharathi on June 30

Mysuru: Ganabharathi is organising a unique Rhythm Festival Layavadyotsava-2019 on June 30 from 10 am to 7.30 pm at its premises in Kuvempunagar.

 Layavadyotsava is a festival to celebrate Laya in its various forms.  In this direction it includes various academic sessions and performing sessions for the rasikas to enjoy. 

The academic sessions are aimed at educating the artistes as well as the rasikas about the various aspects of laya and the art of percussion system in Karnatak music, which would help them to understand the intricacies of Laya. 

The festival will be inaugurated at 10 am by the renowned Mridanga Vidwan Dr. T.A.S. Mani. The schedule for the day is as follows:

 10.15 am to 11.30 am: New Paatakshara, its construction and application by Dr. T.A.S. Mani; 11.30 am to 12 noon: Construction of Muktaya and its development by Vid. Mandya S. Sudarshan; 12 noon to 12.30 pm: Construction of Korapu by Vid. Tumakur B. Ravishankar, 12.30 pm to 1 pm: Origin, Development and Construction of Mohara by Vid. G. S. Ramanujam and Vid. A. Radhesh, 1 pm to 1.30 pm:  Avadhana Taala by Vid. Shivashankaraswamy.

2.30 pm to 3 pm: Traditional Folk Percussion instruments by Dr. Umesh and troupe, 3 pm to 3.30 pm: Dolu performance by Vid. Narayan and troupe,  3.30 pm to 4 pm: Chande performance by Vid. Krishna Chaitanya and troupe, 4 pm to 4.45 pm: Instrument Ensemble by young artistes of Mysuru comprising Vidwans  Tumakur Yashaswi, Mysore Keshava, Amogh, Ratna Teja, Vikram Bharadwaj, Ajay, Skanda and Arjun Kaliprasad. 

From  5.30 pm onwards, there would be three Instrument Ensembles under the direction of renowned artistes of Mysuru in which around 25 artistes are participating. 

First ensemble would be under the direction of Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar in which Vidushis/ Vidwans V.S. Ramesh, Srirambhat, V.Shamu, Vikram Bharadwaj, Aravind, Sharath Koushik, Ajay, M.A. Jyothi, Smitha Srikiran, Sameer Rao and M.D. Arjun will participate.

Second ensemble would be under the direction of Vid. H.L. Shivashankarswamy in which Vidushi/Vidwans V.S. Ramesh, Karthik,  S. Srinivasan, S. Nagaraj, M. Narayan, H. l. Ananthakrishnaswsamy, Karthik Mani, Sameer Rao and M.D. Arjun will perform.

Third ensemble “Naada Laya Sinchana”  has Vidushis/ Vidwans G.S. Ramanujan, V.S. Ramesh, A. Radhesh, S. Manjunath, V. Shamu, Indushekar, M.A. Jyothi, Srirambhat, Smitha Srikiran and Sangeetha Srinidhi.
