Rider injured as cell phone explodes

Nanjangud: A two-wheeler rider suffered injuries after he fell from his bike when the mobile phone on which he was talking while riding, exploded. The incident took place at Hullahalli in the taluk yesterday.

The injured rider is 48-year-old H.M. Basavaraju, former Hullahalli Gram Panchayat President and Vice-President of Government PU College Development Committee.

On Sunday evening, Basavaraju, who had been to his friend’s farm at Taraganahalli was returning home via Kurihundi Road, when the cell phone kept in his pocket began to ring. When Basavaraju received the call while he was still riding, the phone exploded. Basavaraju, who lost control of his scooter, fell down. 

Following the incident,  Basavaraju has suffered injuries on his neck and chest and also sustained injuries on his head.

Nearby villagers, who saw him lying on the road, shifted him to a hospital in Mysuru. 

Hullahalli Police have registered a case.
