June 8, 2018

Pandavapura: A bike rider, who was severely injured in a head-on collision with a school bus near Kamanayakanahalli Gate in the taluk yesterday morning and admitted to a private hospital in Mysuru, breathed his last after failing to respond to the treatment.

The deceased rider has been identified as Shivanna (43), a Gram Panchayat Member and a resident of Sanaba village in the taluk.

Yesterday morning, the school bus belonging to STG Public School at Chinnakurali was ferrying school children from Kamanayakanahalli village. The school bus hit Shivanna while taking a turn in the village resulting in Shivanna suffering serious injuries.

Though the School Management with the help of the public admitted Shivanna to a private hospital in Mysuru, Shivanna breathed his last as he did not respond to the treatment. Luckily, none of the school children in the bus were injured. It is learnt that the driver of the school bus is a relative of the deceased.

Shivanna was the Member of Lakshmisagar Gram Panchayat and was also a JD(S) and Dalita Sangarsha Samithi leader.

Meanwhile, STG Public School CEO C.P. Shivaraju, who rushed to the spot, consoled the family members of the deceased and promised to provide free education to the children of Shivanna at the school besides assuring to take care of the children’s education up to their (children) desire.

Pandavapura Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
