RLHP holds seminar on ‘Importance of School Development Plan’

July 20, 2019

Mysuru:  Rural Literacy and Health Programme (RLHP), in association with WeWorld, Mumbai and other organisations, had conducted a seminar on ‘Importance of School Development Plan and School Development Managing Committee (SDMC)’ at a private hotel in city on Thursday.

About 250 SDMC members of Government Schools, Education Department officials and members of NGOs participated in the seminar featuring sessions on relevant topics pertaining to schools.

Inaugurating the programme by watering a sapling, social activist P. Mallesh bemoaned that quality education was still not available in India even after 70 years of independence.

He observed that only the population of the country was  growing but not the infrastructure. He contended that health and education sectors were predominantly in the private sector with English becoming a daily usage language.

He regretted that education is only for the rich and asked SDMC to introspect and come out with a solution.

Mohiddin Kutty of Karnataka State SDMC Co-ordination Committee, Mangaluru, presided. Campaign Against Child Labour – Karnataka (CACL-K) former Convenor Rennie D’Souza and RLHP Director Saraswathi were the chief guests. Vidyodaya Mahila Okkuta President Smitha and others were present.
