‘Road to Hell’ inside our neighbourhood

May 6, 2019

Sir,

This refers to your well-timed Weekend Star Supplement (Road to Hell) last Saturday focussing on dangerous roads. This particular road in Vijayanagar 1st Stage, 6th Cross, 5th Main, could qualify for a spot on that list.

Though it is not a major highway nor has it claimed lives, the exposed rocks have eaten away the soles and tyres alike. The roads kick up dust, making the lives of the senior citizens, who make up the majority of the residents here, unbearable. So bad is the road that off-road enthusiasts have been making a beeline on Sundays, driving and riding rashly, putting the lives of children at risk.

We request our fellow neighbour, the District-in-Charge Minister (who lives less than 500 metres away) and our Corporator to kindly get this road repaired at the earliest.

– Murgesh Prem Kumar, Vijayanagar 1st Stage, 5.5.2019

Why is it not possible for MCC to maintain basic infrastructures like good roads and footpaths? I believe
this is because of apathy not lack of funds. Of course, this is not specific to Mysuru or Karnataka. This is a national problem.

  2. Vidya says:

It is just a classic case of corruption! Our national epidemic! Firstly our elected representatives only want to focus only on their vote bank! They treat anything beyond it as “none of their business ” ! Even when the funds are available, they share it among their family me,bears, kit and kin, their loyal men and finally if we are lucky, 20 percent will be left out! Then the private contractors who want to cut corners!
The beauty of our democracy is, it anyone who is trying to fix it will be called a Chor and will be investigated and if necessary fabricated! And prestitute media too will make sure it will support the corruption!

    • Hegde says:

Yeah Yeah, the one whom u are referring to has 90% media on his side and you still call them prestitutes!
The problems in our country can be fixed at least but what shall we do for the people like you who have selective amnesia when it wont fit ur narrative.

  3. swamy says:

why people are not taking law into their hands and block the roads until it gets repaired?

    • Hegde says:

u mean like how they are taking law into their hands and lyching ‘beef eaters’? Slow Claps for u Sir.

  4. Hee!Hee! says:

@Hegde, You forgot to take the medication again!! Ha! Ha! Ha!
