Roadkill in Gundlupet

January 21, 2022

Gundlupet: A deer that was crossing the road was killed on the spot when a tipper vehicle rammed into it in front of the Post Office on National Highway on Tuesday night.

Residents, who heard the sound, rushed to the spot but the tipper driver had already sped away. RFO Dr. Lokesh, DRFO Muthuraj and staff arrived at the spot, took custody of the deer carcass and have launched a hunt to trace the tipper vehicle.

It is to be noted that the residents of Gundlupet had complained to the Police about speeding tipper vehicles on the main road, which was resulting in such frequent accidents.

Though the Police conducted checking of vehicles initially after receiving complaints, the Cops later reduced the frequency of checking which has again resulted in tipper vehicles moving at neck-breaking speed on the main road.
