Mysuru City and District Police have organised ‘Run for Unity,’ a 5K marathon, on Oct.31 in city as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of India’s First Home Minister and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Police personnel, students of various schools and colleges, members of NGOs and citizens will take part in the marathon which will be flagged off from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Palace North Gate, at 6 am tomorrow. The Run will pass through K.R. Circle, D.D. Urs Road, JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, Gun House Circle and Hardinge Circle before culminating at the starting point.

National Unity Day is being observed across the country to foster and reinforce dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation. The ‘Run for Unity’ is organised by both Union and State Governments at all district headquarters, towns and villages to pay tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India.’
