Rural IT Quiz: Dates for Karnataka Edition announced

Mysuru:  Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) , a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, has announced the dates for Karnataka edition of Rural IT Quiz.

TCS has been organising the Quiz since 2000 in association with the Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, to enhance IT awareness among students from smaller towns and districts across six States in India.

In Karnataka, the contest will be held at four levels. School-level will be held across the State on Sept. 12 and the district-level on Sept. 20. Zonal contests will be conducted at 3 locations — Dharwad on Oct. 15, Mysuru on Oct. 17 and Tumakuru on Oct. 22. Teams which qualify in the zonal rounds will compete in Karnataka State Finals to be held in Tumakuru on Oct. 22.

Students of classes 8 to 12 from schools and Pre-University Colleges in Karnataka can participate in the quiz contest free of cost. They can contact their respective district DDPI/DDPU for participation. Students from institutions located within the City Corporation limits of Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Ballari, Davangere, Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum and Gulbarga are not eligible to participate.

The 2019 edition of the quiz consists of six regional rounds across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka. Winners and runners-up in each regional round will receive TCS educational scholarship of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7,000 respectively, and get an opportunity to compete in the National Finals in Bengaluru in November.

Prizes at the National-level include educational scholarships of Rs. 1,00,000 for the winners, and Rs. 50,000 for the runners up. In addition, for each of the teams entering the Finals, TCS will sponsor the air travel and stay in Bengaluru for two students and an accompanying teacher.
