Mysuru: Rotary Mysore Midtown and Shrisainik Family has organised a function to present Rotary Sainik Desh Rathna Award instituted by Shrisainik family to Maj. Devender Pal  Singh on Feb. 14 at Rotary Centre Hall, JLB Road here at 6.30 pm. Brigadier Vinod Kumar Adappa will be the chief guest.

Profile: 45-year old Major D.P. Singh is a Kargil war veteran who was injured badly in the war and was on the verge of being declared dead. Maj. Singh survived to shine as India’s 1st amputee marathon runner. Famous as Indian Blade Runner, he has successfully completed 26 half marathons till date including three in extreme high altitude.

He is a quadruple Limca Record holder, including Limca ‘People of the Year’ award in 2016. Honoured by the Canadian Government, he was also conferred with REX Karamveer Global Fellowship of (2014-15). In 2018,  Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India, conferred him with National Award in Role Model category.
