Sir,
The recent write-up on the Architect of Mysore AIR Dr. M.V. Gopalaswamy by his grand-daughter (SOM dated Sept.12) makes it a worthy reading. She has unearthed many facts we never knew.
The toils and troubles he faced in turning his dream a reality are really appreciable. Attempting at an unknown project, with literally zero-technology at that time and with no monetary support from any quarter, was no doubt a herculean task. He did it and we now enjoy fruits of his labour. A big salute to him.
I vaguely recall facts my late father, himself a Psychology student at Maharaja’s College in the early 1950s, used to often tell me about a multi-faceted person Gopalaswamy.
Being a teenager, I used to gaze at him with awe but the next moment it conveniently drained off my memory. I very much reminisce them now. Moving past the AIR, even today I get a glimpse of these bygone events before my eyes.
