Sandal Urus Sharieff of Hazarath Tipu Sultan held

Mysore/Mysuru: The 230th Sandal Urus Sharieff of Hazarath Tipu Sultan Shaheed was celebrated with religious fervour in city yesterday.

A stage programme was organised by Hazarath Tipu Sultan Welfare and Urus Committee at the Tipu Hall in Meena Bazar which was followed by a procession.

A mass prayer was held at the Tipu Hall which was led by Ahmed Shah Khadree and later the holy sandal paste was brought to Meelad Park. MLA Tanveer Sait carried the holy sandal paste on his head and walked for a distance.

The MLA later sat in a chariot and the procession, accompanied by Sufi Saints and others, passed through Ashoka Road and St. Philomena’s Church Circle to reach Bada Makhan near Tipu Circle, where the holy sandal was placed in a truck and taken to Gumbad-e-Shahi in Srirangapatna.

MLA Tanveer Sait, who is also the Chairman of Hazrath Tipu Sultan Waqf Estate, offered floral tribute to the tomb of Hazrath Tipu Sultan at Gumbad-e-Shahi in Srirangapatna.

Sir Khazi of Mysuru Hazarath Moulana Mohammed Usman Shariff, Sri Basavalinga Swamiji of Basava Dhyana Mandira, Kannada Chaluvali party’s Vatal Nagaraj, Chairman of Karnataka State Board of Auqaf Hazrath Moulana Shaafi Sadi, Chief Executive Officer of  Karnataka Board of Auqaf Khan Parvez, Chairman of Mysore District Waqf Advisory Committee Ghayaz Ahmed Akram, President of Al Khalid Charitable Trust Mohamed Mumtaz Ahmed, Secretary of Hazrath Tipu Waqf Estate Irfan Pasha, Hazrath Moulana Wali Ba,  Iqbal Ahmed, members of Hazrath Tippu Waqf Estate, Social Worker Mirza Jamsheed Baig and others were present.

Sandal Urus Sharieff was also celebrated by Bannimantap Educational Welfare Trust at Tippu Tomb in Srirangapatna.

Dr. Mehboob Khan of Rehman Bone Centre, K.R. Nagar carried the holy sandal paste and offered Fathaha Khawani and flower mats at Tipu Shrine.
