Raaga Vaibhava Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised a grand Karnatak vocal concert by renowned vocalist Vid. Sandeep Narayan at Rama Govinda Ranga Mandira, Ramakrishnanagar, here tomorrow (Aug. 31) at 6 pm.
He will be accompanied by Vid. H.N. Bhaskar on violin, Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Vid. Vazhapalli Krishna Kumar on ghata.
Profile: Vid. Sandeep Narayan is a renowned musician of Karnatak classical music. Though he was born and brought up in Los Angeles, Sandeep went against the norms and moved from America to India in 2006, to pursue his dream of becoming a full time musician. His reverse migration was a first-of-its-kind for an aspiring artiste in Karnatak music. Known for his vibrant voice, intricate elaborations and emotive renditions of compositions, Sandeep strives to serve as a cultural ambassador between traditional Indian music and audiences worldwide.
A recipient of ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar’ award in 2019, Sandeep is also a music educator and has trained many students around the world.
Vid. H.N. Bhaskar made rapid strides and has gone on to become one of the top violinists of his generation in all the aspects of violin playing accompaniment, solo and experimentation in new genes.
Proud son of city’s senior musician H.K. Narasimha Murthy, who is also his Guru, Bhaskar took his advanced training in violin playing from legendary MSG, who often used to say ‘What a brilliant violinist HNB is!’
Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao is a mridangist of fine aesthetics and precision. His poise attitude and electrifying magic on stage mesmerises his audience.
Vid. Vazhapalli R. Krishna Kumar is a renowned name in the Karnatak music circles. He often explores ideas of various kinds.
He recently launched a project ‘Modam Mohana Ghatanadam’ and the initiative has been making its ripples felt across the country and outside within a short time. Krishna Kumar is an ‘A’ grade artiste in All India Radio (AIR).
The concert is open to all.
