Mysuru, Apr. 7- Kalasuruchi and Kutuhali have jointly organised Science Sanje at Suruchi Rangamane on Chitrabhanu Road, Kuvempunagar, Mysuru, tomorrow (Apr. 8) between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

Dr. S. Seetha, Emeritus Scientist (Honorary Member), Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru, will speak on the topic ‘The Unseen Universe in UVs and X rays.’

Profile: Dr. S. Seetha superannuated as Outstanding Scientist from the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre, in January 2019 after serving in ISRO for nearly 39 years. She was earlier Director at the Space Science Programme Office at ISRO HQ and was therefore responsible to ensure co-ordination of all space science activities of ISRO.

She is also the Principal Investigator of the AstroSat, the first dedicated space astronomy mission. Her areas of research is in the field of astronomy, particularly the study of variable stars in x-ray and optical bands. She has contributed extensively to the development of space science instrumentation for Indian satellite missions.

She has over 80 publications in refereed journals and has guided 5 students for their Ph.D. She has received several awards, the notable being The C.V. Raman Young Scientist award in Physical Sciences for the year 2003; The Best Woman Scientist Award for the year 2012 from the Astronautical Society of India; Member of Team excellence award of ISRO for ‘AstroSat Mission’ 2015; Distinguished Alumni award from the Old Students Association of Hindu College, Delhi, 2017.
