Selected for Udupi Mutt’s Natl. Award

Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Abhrumni Gurukula’s Vidwan Bemmathi Vijayendra Acharya is among the three Vidwans selected for the prestigious Annual National Award given by Udupi’s Sri Bhandarakeri Mutt.

The two other awardees are Pandit Chitaguppa Padmanabha Acharya of Hyderabad and Vidwan Nagasampige Raghothama Acharya of Bagalkot.

Vidwan Bemmathi Vijayendra Acharya, who learnt his scholarly education at Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha in Bengaluru, later came to Mysuru along with his wife and established Abhrumni Gurukula at Jayanagar in the city for imparting Vedic and cultural education to female students.

Considering his Vedic services, Sri Bhandarakeri Mutt has selected him for ‘Sri Rajavidyamaanya’ award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a citation.

Vijayendra Acharya will be conferred the award at Vedavyasa Jayanti celebrations to be held at Kote Mukhyaprana Devara Gudi in Raichur at 5 pm tomorrow (Apr. 28).
