February 25, 2019

Mysuru:  A two-day seminar on the life and achievements of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar was organised by the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds here recently. Inaugurating the programme, District Minister G.T. Devegowda suggested the officials of the Heritage Department to come out with a documentary on Nalwadi to project the good deeds and plans of the Maharaja to the future generation.

He recalled that Nalwadi’s contribution to economic development of city banking sector, education field, irrigation and many more cannot be quantified.

Speaking as the chief guest, Tourism Minister S.R. Mahesh, striking a comparison to Nalwadi, ridiculed that today’s politicians conspire and battle to topple a Government while the Maharaja struggled to develop the city with a lot of social concern.

The book ‘Chamarajanagara Zilleya Ithihasa Mattu Purathatva,’ brought out by the Department, was released on the occasion.

Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage Commissioner T. Venkatesh, Director Dr. R. Gopal, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath, Deputy Mayor Shafi Ahmed, P.V. Nanjaraja Urs and others were present. Over 60 Researchers presented papers.
