Seminar on ‘Viral Hepatitis’ held

Mysuru:  The Department of Pharmacy Practice, Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, conducted a one-day Seminar on ‘Viral Hepatitis’ at CSI Holdsworth Memorial (Mission) Hospital, here under the Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) series on the eve of World Hepatitis Day with the theme “Eliminating Hepatitis” on  Aug.1.

Chief guest Dr. Suguna Shanthi, Director, Mission Hospital, lauded the role of Pharmacists in preventing Hepatitis and also explained different activities which may be performed by the Pharm D interns in Clinical and Hospital Practice during ward rounds.

Farooqia College Principal Dr. Md. Salahuddin, in his keynote address, stressed upon Pharmacist as a key member of the healthcare team working closely with all healthcare professionals including Doctors, Nurses and other Paramedics, as well.

On the occasion, a Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) on ‘Hepatitis Awareness’ was released.        

Dr. G. Mohan Kumar, Head & Intensivist, Department of General Medicine & ICUs, CSI Holdsworth Memorial (Mission) Hospital,  spoke about the consequences and preventive measures related to viral hepatitis and addressed queries raised by the students.

Dr. B.J. Mahendra Kumar, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, welcomed.  Dr. Umesh, Assistant Professor, proposed a vote of thanks. Nisar Ahmed, Associate Professor, compered.
