Senior citizens seek resumption of concession in train fares

July 21, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking resumption of the concession in train fares for senior citizens aged over 60 years, senior citizens staged a demonstration in front of the main gate of the City Railway Station here on Wednesday.

Maintaining that they are very much dependent on Railways for their needs and convenience, the senior citizens urged the Railways to restore all kinds of concession extended to them to the pre-COVID level.

Contending that concessions that were in force till March 2020 was very much beneficial, they said that the sudden stoppage of this following the outbreak of pandemic when train services were completely stopped, has inconvenienced them a lot. As such, the Railways should seriously consider restoring all concessions, they urged.

Senior Citizens Forum Convenor D. Rajendra, General Insurance Pensioners Association office-bearer Umapathi, BSNL Pensioners Association office-bearer Ramdas Bhandari and others were present.
