Server down at Mini Vidhana Soudha

June 28, 2018

Higher-ups not aware; 2,300  applications pending; farmers unhappy

Mysuru: The server at Mini Vidhana Soudha in Nazarbad, which houses the offices of the Sub-Registrar, Taluk Office, Taluk Panchayat, Assistant Director of Land Records, Assistant Director of Agriculture and many more, has crashed inconveniencing thousands of applicants for records.

The server was down on June 8 and since 20 days, the work of issuing almost 38 different types of certificates, including income, caste, family tree, authentication certificates, has come to a standstill. As a result nearly 2,300 applications are pending.

Even as the applications pile up, the efforts to repair the server has not been taken up and the higher-ups, it is said are not even aware of the problem faced by the staff and the people visiting the office for certificates.

One of the staff working in the office told Star of Mysore here this morning on condition of anonymity that the problem exists in many districts across the State. The services have been affected in Periyapatna, Nanjangud, H.D. Kote, K.R. Nagar, Hunsur, Srirangapatna and Mandya taluks also.

All the certificates should be authenticated by the Deputy Tahsildar with his thumb impression. Since the server has crashed, the bio-metric thumb impression is also not working. This step was taken to see that the gullible do not become targets to illegal and fake certificates.

The staff put up the board that the server is not working and it will remain there for three days. They will remove it and again put up after a day or two and at the time this reporter visited the spot, it was not there today.

The farmers who apply for various types of certificates related to land records are an unhappy lot as they have to physically be present to collect certificates and all they get to see is the board showing ‘Server is down.’

Meanwhile, the applications can be uploaded online which are accepted. But when it comes to issuance of certificates, the process is getting delayed due to the crashing of the server.

However, some of the services like RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crop) are available.
