Severed remains of cow, calf found dumped at J.P. Nagar

July 11, 2026

Mysuru: Residents of Prakruthi Layout at J.P. Nagar were left shocked after severed remains of a cow and a calf, including their heads and legs, were dumped in the area late on Monday night. The incident occurred within Vidyaranyapuram Police Station limits.

The animal remains, reportedly stuffed inside a sack, were discovered by residents, who immediately alerted the Police. MLA T.S. Srivatsa visited the spot, inspected the site and interacted with residents to gather information about the incident.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Srivatsa said, complaints regarding illegal beef sales in the locality had been received on several occasions. Despite repeated complaints to the Police, no action has been taken. Now, unidentified persons dumped animal remains in a public place.

“A case has been registered. The animal parts have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory to determine how the animals were killed. We also need to investigate whether there was any attempt to disturb communal harmony,” he said.

No ‘Garuda’ patrol vehicle

The MLA also pointed out that the jurisdiction of the Vidyaranyapuram Police Station extends up to the Ring Road but does not have a dedicated ‘Garuda’ patrol vehicle. He urged the Police to intensify beat patrols to prevent such incidents from recurring.

“If illegal beef sales continue in the area, both the Police and the Health Department will be held accountable,” Srivatsa warned.
