Mysuru: A man, who had sexually assaulted a minor girl in 2017, has been sentenced to 10 years jail and a fine of Rs.30,000 has been imposed on him by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Special  Court here.

The accused is Yallappa, a resident of Telaginakuppe in the taluk. The accused, on Apr.12, 2017 had sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl and the girl’s mother had lodged a complaint with Periyapatna Police in this regard.

After arresting the accused and conducting investigation, Periyapatna Police had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.

Judge B.S. Jayashree, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found the accused guilty of the crime and pronounced the     judgement.

Public Prosecutor B.C. Shivarudraswamy argued on behalf of the Government.
