Shankaracharya Jayanthi in city tomorrow

Mysuru: The District Administration in association with Sri Shankaracharya Jayanthyotsava Samithi has organised Shankaracharya Jayanthi celebration at Sri Sringeri Shankar Mutt in city tomorrow (May 6) at 11 am.

Announcing this at a press meet in Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Mysuru District and City Brahmana Sangha President D.T. Prakash said that District Minister S.T. Somashekar will inaugurate the programme at 11 am. MLA S.A. Ramdas, in-Charge Mayor Sunanda Palanetra, MPs V. Sreenivasa Prasad, Pratap Simha and Sumalatha Ambarish will be present.

At 6 pm, a procession carrying Shankaracharya’s portrait will be taken out from Sri Sringeri Shankar Mutt and will pass through Uttaradi Mutt, Agrahara, Basaveshwara Road, Ramanuja Road before culminating at the starting point.

Sri Ramanuja Abhyudaya Sahakara Sangha President HVLN Achar, who too spoke, said that Brahmana Sangha in association with Sri Ramanuja Abhyudaya Sahakara Sangha will be celebrating Ramanujacharya Jayanthi on May 7 at 4 pm.  The Ratha Yatra will begin from Rama Mandira on Deva Parthiva Road and will pass through RTO Circle, Ballal Circle before culminating at Rama Mandira in Krishnamurthypuram.

Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple’s Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji will inaugurate the Ratha Yatra. District and City Brahmana Sangha President D.T. Prakash, MLA S.A. Ramdas, former MLA M.K. Somashekar, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev and others will be present. The Yathra will be followed by stage programmes, he said and urged the Government to celebrate Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya Jayanthis also.
