April 12, 2024

Nagamangala: Various documents, deep freezer and other items were gutted in a fire reportedly caused by short circuit at Haradanahalli Primary Health Centre (PHC), Devalapura Hobli in Nagamangala taluk yesterday morning.

Sunitha, an employee of the PHC, who saw thick smoke emanating from one of the rooms at about 9 am yesterday, went near the room only to see the fire and immediately informed the officials, who in turn informed the matter to the Fire Station.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who rushed to the spot, managed to douse the fire in a three hour-long operation and prevented the fire from spreading further. But the fire had already destroyed a deep freezer, vaccine fridge and various documents kept in the almirah. It is learnt that the loss is estimated at about Rs. 2 lakh.

In the absence of Taluk Health Officer Dr. Ramesh, Dr. Narayan visited the spot.
