Silver articles stolen from temple

July 5, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Burglars, who gained entry into Vittaladhama Temple at J.P. Nagar by cutting open the window using a gas cutter, have made away with silver articles kept in the temple.

The burglary came to light on July 3 morning, when Temple priest Bharati Ramanakumar came to open the temple and saw the broken window. The thieves may have committed the crime the previous night or in the wee hours of July 3.

On inspecting the temple, the priest saw that the collapsible gate of the sanctum sanctorum was also cut open by the thieves and the deity’s silver armour, arathi plates, teertha vessel, silver puja articles and the offering box (hundi) missing.

Based on the complaint from Temple Secretary Ashok Chitaguppi, Vidyaranyapuram Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
