Mysuru: The Mysuru City Unit of Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishat celebrated internationally acclaimed Scientist Sir C.V. Raman’s 131st birth anniversary  at St. Anthony High School at Gayathripuram in city recently.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Parishat Convenor R. Anantaramu said that Sir. C.V. Raman was the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize in Physics  and called upon the students to inculcate the great Scientist’s patriotism and self-respect.

Observing that deep interest in studies will lead  a student to take up research in his/her chosen subject, Anantaramu advised the students to concentrate on science subjects that aim at making life better and happier. Calling upon the students to develop a scientific mindset, he asked them to focus more on pure sciences and to shun superstition at a time when the entire world is technology driven.

Retired CFTRI Scientists who also spoke, said that science is very much part of our daily life and  hence, taking up research in the subject will be of much benefit to the society and demonstration on low cost experiments was given.
