July 13, 2026

New Delhi: Even as the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) of electoral rolls is going on in several States of the country including Karnataka, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has said that it is mandatory for new voters to provide SIR details of their parents.

“The new voters submitting Form-6 for voter rolls enrolment should attach details of SIR of their parents. This will help in mapping new voters. This apart, this rule will reduce number of documents to be attached to applications,” said the ECI, which had issued such a notification making it mandatory for new voters to provide details of SIR of parents during SIR held ahead of Assembly polls in Bihar.
